Iowa BIG will receive $1,000,000 over five years as part of XQ: The Super School Project, for serving as a place where students from across the community work side-by-side to tackle real problems, acquire critical content and skills, and learn from one another. The funds will support program growth while it continues to serve students and community. This Nov. 30 event will not only celebrate the opening of Iowa BIG’s brand new space, but will serve as an opportunity for the community to meet their local XQ school and learn more about the solutions they’ve created for rethinking high schools that will prepare students for college, career, and life in the 21st century.

In addition to meeting the Iowa BIG team, the event will feature a short program that includes a special announcement regarding the expansion of the Iowa BIG model. Invited speakers include Iowa BIG students, XQ Super Schools President Matt Lorin, Cedar Rapids Mayor Ron Corbett, and other community leaders.

The following activities will be open to the public and media on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at Iowa BIG, 415 12th Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, IA.

About XQ: The Super School Project:
XQ: The Super School Project launched in September 2015 as an open call to rethink and design the next American high school. Thousands of School Builders, and tens of thousands of supporters from towns and cities across all 50 states have united to take on this important work. Teams of students, teachers, parents, community leaders and many more came together to conceptualize innovative models for 21st century learning.
